Check out this weekend’s madness: the new April 25 offering, “Sound of Slack.” This song was inspired by a friend who applied the title phrase to the sound of the hundreds of flip-flop clad folks roaming around our town, mouths agape or distractedly texting, oblivious. The video isn’t meant to be anything other than a placeholder to enable posting the song on YouTube. Perhaps I’ll take on upgrading these videos as a future project. See the April 25 page for more information about this project.
Sound of Slack
(chorus)
We’re not giving any slack
We’re not giving any slack …
All the students in the town
roll their bowlin’ pins around
flip floppin’ on the common ground
shufflin’ up the mall
THAT sound!
It’s the thing that drives you ’round the bend
that slapping without end
the toes exposed
the total zeroes
I think
I’ll blow
my nose
We’re not giving any slack
We’re not giving any slack …
And I don’t know about you
thought the Beats died with Paradise
the hippies ate it
at Altamont
La la la la
La la la la
La la la la
Even in the airport
riding the so-called people mover
you are dismayed
by the sound of slack
Put upon by the rubber scuffle
the more you try
to shut it out
the more you find
to complain
about
We’re not giving any slack
We’re not giving any slack …
La la la la ….
Hold it! Hold it!
Just hold on a minute!
I won’t allow you in my joint
You ain’t gettin’ in it
My day came with steel reinforcement
Carolina Boot Company
no endorsement
but a warning
heed it
now you time-warp slack-man
hit the walk
and beat it
We’re not giving any slack
We’re not giving any slack …
La la la la …..
