This is an another experiment in film, music, and short fiction I prepared in advance of a reading I gave at the University of Maine in 2007. It blends clips and stills of Joe Strummer and The Clash, and excerpts from my short bio fic piece, “Joe Strummer Along the Westway to Heaven.” The drawing of Strummer with star is by Jeff Edmunds.
Where can I read the remainder?
Tim
Hi, Tim.
Thanks for inquiring. This piece is part of a collection of “biofiction” shorts I’m collaborating on with the artist Jeff Edmunds. We’re calling the collection “Evocations,” the idea being the works contained in the collection seek to evoke the spirit of subject. Edmunds is creating a visual response/embellishment to the prose. Other figures in the series include people such as Mark E. Smith, Jacques Riguat, Napoleon, Ian Curtis, Annika Sorenstam, and Bela Lugosi, the last seeing the light of day in U. Maine’s Stolen Island Review. Our hope is to publish the individual pieces in lit mags and periodicals, then the collection as a whole in book form.
“Joe on the Westway” remains unpublished at the moment, but since you’ve been kind enough to inquire I’ll post it here as a PDF in the next day or two.
Regards, Ed.
Thanks Ed –
I’ll be traveling the next few days but please let me know when it’s posted and I’ll link it back from my blog.
Best
Tim
